As 2024 came to a close, we spent some evenings reconnecting with our pastor and church leader friends who have attended previous Ministry Training Institute classes. In each location we spent time looking at Acts chapter 20 with the idea of leaving a legacy that matters. We also shared a meal and enjoyed each other’s company.
Exciting things have been happening in Toledo for Street Level this past month. We have rented a space to call our own! This space will be utilized for our weekly dinners and Bible discussions as well as things like movie nights, game nights, and opening it up on certain days for students to study in. It will also serve as Shofar Mission’s Toledo headquarters when we host events such as the Ministry Training Institute classes.
It is located beside the Yummio restaurant, and is within walking distance from the campuses in Toledo.
To promote the new location, we spent Thursday and Friday outside of the campuses in Toledo giving away coffee to students to let them know about our regular weekly meetings and about a grand opening game night that we held Friday night.
As the semester continues on, things have not slowed down at all for Street Level. We have been continuing to push to meet students and invite them to our weekly meetings in Cebu and Toledo. Typically that happens with fliers, magazines, and posters, but we have recently started giving away instant coffee and milo near universities too! It has been a fun way to talk with students as they head to class.
This week we also hosted a Word on the Street magazine party in Toledo and Cebu to celebrate the release of issue 95! We had great attendance at both locations and a lot of laughs too. The evenings consisted of food, watching a video from the U.S. WOTS staff, reading excerpts from the new issue, and playing some team games. The competition was fierce with games of Password, Pictionary, a word search, crossword, and Fishbowl! Check out the video to see some of the action!
