• Street Level Ministries

All universities have officially begun the semester here in Cebu and Toledo, so we are looking forward to whatever God has in store for us this year. While the team was here, we covered every major university area with posters advertising our weekly meetings, our Street Level members are each working on getting a location to put up a big banner, and we are getting to campuses to personally invite students too. We are hoping to meet some new young people who want to know God and live for Him.

Last week we set up our booth outside of the University of the Visayas – Toledo. We had a quick game to play with students who wanted the chance to win a free cold drink, which was pretty fun, and was a way to interact and invite them to the weekly dinners and Bible discussions.

This week we started a new series “The Life of Joseph: real life faith” so we will be digging into the Old Testament for the next six weeks.

We would appreciate prayer, especially for:

    • Meeting new students – ones that God is working in, who want to know Him more and live for Him
    • Our current group at SLM Cebu and SLM Toledo – that they would be growing in their faith and love for God. That they would be passionate about and committed to living for Him.
  • Believers Church

The past few weeks we had members from all four Believers Church locations (Menomonie, WI – River Falls, WI – Duluth, MN – Cebu City) together for Sunday services which was a great blessing. It was a good reminder that we are part of a bigger family, and to get to know one another.

Tuesday and Wednesday was the Ministry Training Institute in Tagbilaran on Bohol. This was the final MTI in the Timothy Training Program. There was a good turn out and many participants had attended previous MTI classes. The group was engaged in the material and excited to be there. At the end of the class, the teachers did a Question & Answer panel and opened it up for questions and discussion on the topic of training up future leaders.

Tuesday evening, we did a youth group study at a church in Baclayon, Bohol. The topic was what it means to be committed to Jesus and your church community. Young people from a couple of churches in the area joined us for the study and brief discussion. They were encouraged to look at the practical things in their life that they can improve their commitment to Jesus in. Then, we had some time to get to know each other better with snacks and games.

In Tagbilaran, we did a pop-up Bible study at Passiflora Cafe. Two newcomers came and hung out with us. We read some scripture related to God’s will, seeking first his kingdom, and not worrying about tomorrow. We had good discussions and fellowship together.
