It’s been a whirlwind the last couple of weeks as we have been preparing for our first church service here in Cebu City. We hung up over a hundred posters in the last two days and passed out almost as many fliers. There seems to be a lot of curiosity about it when we talk to people, so we will see who God brings on Sunday. It is difficult to know exactly what to plan for, but we are going to have church at 5pm on Sunday in the office. Jesse is going to start by teaching verse-by-verse through Matthew. If enough people show up, we will have worship too. After service, we will have dinner with whoever comes and wants to stay to eat with us.

With the start of church, we are feeling some pushback on the spiritual warfare front. It has been just a lot of little things, causing distractions and frustrations. This is to be expected of course, but still frustrating nonetheless. But on the flip side, it is causing us to rely more heavily on God – even for the little stuff.
We would greatly appreciate your prayers, especially for the following:
- For us to connect with the right people when we are out with fliers and posters.
- For people to come on Sunday – those that are going to want to be involved and committed to creating a community here.
On a lighter note, we did learn an important lesson this week… NEVER go to the biggest mall in Cebu on a Sunday afternoon. Especially when they are hosting the world’s largest book sale. (Who knew!)
