Kicking off 2025!

A few SLM Cebu members were able to spend a few hours outside of UV Main the other day. We talked with students and invited everyone to our weekly meetings. There was also the chance to win a cold drink or coffee by playing a matching game. It was a good time, and we hope to do it again soon! Thanks to Kaffee Cove for the great spot to set up, and the delicious coffee!

We also began a short mini Bible study series, “Crazy Things Jesus Said.” These short (20 minute) pop-up Bible studies will be held on occasion around Cebu City at various cafes. The first one was at Roadside Cafe, near Cebu Normal University. Stay tuned for the next one!

And just like that, 2024 has come to a close for SLM Cebu and Toledo. We finished the year with a very merry Christmas party this week. We ate way too many cookies, tested our Christmas trivia knowledge, exchanged gifts, and showed off our “humming karaoke” talents. We are very thankful for what God has done in and through Street Level this year… and looking forward to what He has to come next year!

Looking for a place to study between classes? We are opening our Street Level space in Toledo on THURSDAYS from 10am-5pm to meet your studying needs. We will have some snacks and coffee available, but feel free to bring your own lunch too if you would like. Find us beside Yummio restaurant on Libre Street!

SLM – TOLEDO

Exciting things have been happening in Toledo for Street Level this past month. We have rented a space to call our own! This space will be utilized for our weekly dinners and Bible discussions as well as things like movie nights, game nights, and opening it up on certain days for students to study in (stay tuned for details).

We are now located beside Yummio restaurant on Libre Street (an 8 minute walk from UV, 6 minutes from Consolatrix).

To promote the new location, we spent Thursday and Friday outside of the campuses in Toledo giving away coffee to students to let them know about our regular weekly meetings and about a grand opening game night that we held Friday night.

Word on the Street Magazine Party

The competition was fierce last Thursday and Friday at our WOTS release party! We celebrated the 95th issue of our magazine with word-based games (Pictionary, Password, Fishbowl, a word search, and a crossword), and teams competed for prizes. We also enjoyed a video from the U.S. writers and editors who work on the magazine, and we read some sections of articles from the new issue. And there was food, of course!

It was a great evening in Toledo and Cebu! Hope you enjoy the latest issue of Word on the Street!

Street Level Radio wifi stations

Did you know that Street Level has it’s own radio station? You can stream it online, any time, anywhere at streetlevelradio.com/philippines.html (for the Philippines specific stream). OR you can find one of our free wifi based radio hubs in the city! You can listen at these locations: UV-Main campus, Teofel hostel, Roadside Cafe, BBC’s Printshop (wifi reaches to USC campus) and Draft Punk Craft Cafe. Let us know if you’re listening!

Coffee Giveaways

What better way to start your day than with a free cup of coffee or Milo? We have been enjoying getting out to campuses in Cebu and setting up our “pop-up coffee shop” of sorts. So far we have visited CNU, CIT, and CTU. We will definitely be back again, and will venture out to other campuses soon too, so stay tuned!

Toledo Outreaches

With universities in Toledo starting up, we got out with our booth to try to meet students. We had a great time playing a game to get a chance to win a free cold drink and also gave away a lot of our Word on the Street magazines! If you are in Toledo, be sure to join us every THURSDAY at 6PM for free dinner and Bible discussion.

The Life of Joseph: real life faith

The next several weeks at Street Level, we will be taking an in-depth look at the life of Joseph in the book of Genesis. His story is one of great trials and great faithfulness and is a life that we want to learn from. So join us in Cebu on Wednesdays or Toledo on Thursdays for free dinner and to discuss what real-life faith looks like.
