Coffee Outreach Opportunities

Time flies when you’re having fun! We are sad to see the weather changing so fast but we have greatly enjoyed our summer. This summer we went mobile. We helped River Falls and Menomonie Street Level Ministries in their fundraising efforts for their mission trip. We enjoyed both events the Vintage Baseball game and the rummage sale. It was fun to serve the community and alongside SLM and BDR. This was our second year doing the Vintage Baseball event and we continue to build that relationship with them. The mobile coffeehouse also joined BDR a few times at music over Menomin. We enjoyed the music and getting to know more people from the community.

Fall Happenings

This fall we have hit the ground running with the UW-Stout students back! We were able to give free breakfast coupons for the UW-Stout Blu Rah event and UW-Stout care packages for students. With that being said we have been serving anywhere from 32-68 breakfasts a week. Because of it we asked Street Level volunteers to assist in the morning breakfast rush. We had the pleasure to bring the mobile coffeehouse to the Epic Moth Parties each week. Many students were served and different people got to learn the mobile coffeehouse set up. We also traveled to River Falls and joined Street Level with their free coffee and frities give-away. We served over 100 people!! The coffeehouse also joined Street Level in hosting Jon Bloom. He talked to college-age people about not following your heart. The mobile coffeehouse is going to be on UW-Stouts campus with WOTS and BDR. There we will be giving away free coffee!

We have been really blessed to come alongside other ministries and serve with them. Please continue to pray for the Coffeehouse as we continue to grow, serve, and reach out to students.

We hope you have an opportunity this summer to come enjoy the weather and sit on the Blind Munchies Coffeehouse patio.  The patio is back up and running – serving espresso drinks Saturday and Sunday during the day and Tuesday through Friday evenings. During our other open hours, we welcome you to still come and enjoy it!

This summer we will bring the mobile coffeehouse to a few locations.  You will find us periodically at Music over Menomon. Also, we are joining up with Street Level a few times to help them raise funds for their spring missions trip –  We will join them at the River Falls Outreach Rummage Sale, June 30th, and at the Blue Caps Baseball Festival, July 28th.

Saturday morning breakfasts will still be available for the summer. We offer a rotating American style breakfast that is $2.00 for students and $3.00 for everyone else. We also added Strawberry Smoothies to our menu for a limited time this summer- these are available Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings and Saturday.

Please pray for our mobile outreaches this summer. We hope to engage with and be a blessing to the community through them.

Concert Report

Last Friday night the stage was set for the first concert of the Spring Semester- and Yam Haus did not disappoint! The Indie Funk band from Hudson, WI were a blast. There was even some slight dancing from some in our group. They delivered some cover songs as well and overall it was a great night. As many of you know the concerts that Street Level puts on are not just to entertain us. But a chance for us to reach out to college students. Friday night brought many new people to us. This, after a very well-attended mobile coffeehouse on campus on Thursday afternoon (serving almost 100 people!) we had a few come from those events. Please continue to pray for Street Level as we enter the last 6 weeks of school and many of us prepare to head off to the Philippines that we will finish the semester well. Yam Haus live

Comedy: “Did you know that Pringles are the only chip company that doesn’t sell air?…”

On Friday night, Street Level had had a comedy and trivia night at the Blind Munchies. This was a change from the tradition music show we’ve been doing for many years. Joe “Juice” Sutton came and performed his stand-up for us. Yes, it was funny- but also we did learn a few things along with the jokes.
